Neglected....not deserted.

I'm back....I swear!!!;-)

I was recently talking with a fellow photographer friend and she had mentioned to me that she thought I had "deserted" my blog. Well, while I have DEFINITELY neglected it, I have not deserted it altogether!!!;-) Things have just been so crazy, and I've been so busy that my blog has been put on the back burner. I must now do all I can to nurse my sweet little blog into the NEW blog that feels loved and appreciated by everyone....especially me! So, I apologize to you and my poor blog for my obvious neglect. I have made many a promise to be much better about keeping up with this baby, so I won't go there....BUT I will be so bold as to say that I will post today and then in a few more days you will see another post! Holy cow....back to back posts from someone who's been gone for so long. Yep...I'm gonna do it. And I'm pretty sure I can sense the excitement from you guys that may actually still visit every now and then!!!;-) HA!

I figured I'd start out this blog relay by posting a self portrait I did recently....just to show you that I am in fact alive and well! I had to tackle this absolute chore as I have a website in the works and I had no decent pictures of myself to put on my bio page. So....a day after going to the salon and cutting 7 inches off of my no longer glamorous but matronly locks, I decided it was time. A new look.....a new picture. And let's be honest here, after the first washing, your hair will never again look as good as when your favorite hair stylist fixed you up! Yep....it's an unfortunate truth. Well, at least for me! Sooooooo.....that being said, I will now unveil my shameless self portraits. Could use some help deciding between the two images and whether b/w or color if you would like to voice your opinion. They are both really "me" so I can't decide which route to take here!

How funny is it that I'm laughing at NO ONE in the room.....no one but me for being such a dork and acting so VERY amused while setting my camera on a tripod, running to my ottoman and then laughing at nothing....absolutely nothing." pics. Too cheesy? I had a friend say yes, but I think it's b/c she knew my story....perhaps I shouldn't have given her a "behind the scenes"? HA! I had to....as I did you....it's just too funny and I have no problem making a joke of myself!!!;-)

His Joint....

Well, not really but every time I visit Florida I drive by this place and since he was a wee little boy I've been wanting to take a picture of him in front of it. This one wasn't easy though.....I was by myself and a very busy road was about 8 feet away from the sign and we all know this little guy is a quick one. So...I had to shoot fast. I only had time for a few b/c I had to go meet the fam for some incredible Chinese cuisine.....yeah.....a little slap in Eli's face for sure. But you have no fear, we'll be back and a little Bar-B-Que will be on the menu!!!;-)

Sometimes you just have to really tell it like it is and show your emotions...don't hold anything back!

I LOVE this picture for two reasons...it so represents what I feel like right about now. With Christmas approaching this is the busiest time of year for the photography business between sessions, designing Christmas cards, getting orders packaged and delivered....so on and so forth. It's a bit overwhelming! BUT...I love it! I'm so excited that people are choosing me to capture these types of moments forever.....I truly feel so blessed!

The second reason I love this picture is that it reminds me of what it's like to be a kid without a care in the world. It truly speaks volumes about childhood. Here's the story behind this: We were at the beach doing pictures. Well, there were birds flying all around us squealing and squawking the whole time. She was yelling at the birds!!! I'm not sure if she was trying to communicate with them or scare them, but either way it was such a hilarious scene. And of course I HAD to capture it. I get a chuckle every time I look at this because she is just not holding ANYTHING back here. She must've felt such a sense of relief after that!;-) So, all of that being said, this one is one of my favorite recent pictures. And this is why I LOVE what I do!
